This Student Code of Conduct outlines the expected standard of behaviour for all students attending our programs.

The Motion Academy aims to provide a safe and nurturing training environment in which all students are able to thrive. We believe that all students have the right to have fun and participate and learn in an environment that is free from behaviour that may impair learning, safety and well-being.

All students are expected to treat others courteously and with consideration at all times, including respecting personal space and boundaries. Conduct which constitutes a danger to anyone’s health, safety or well-being, will not be tolerated. This includes physical abuse, threatening behaviour, harassment, discrimination, bullying or the creation of a condition that endangers the safety or well-being of students or coaches.

Students are responsible for ensuring that they do not in any way impede the learning, safety and well-being of any other individual. Students that display unacceptable behaviours will receive a 5 minute timeout. During timeouts, the student will be asked to sit to the side of their current station (so they are still supervised) and not participate in the current activity. This is to allow opportunity for the offending student to calm down and self regulate, it also allows time for the coach to get the session back on track for the other students.

Time outs are given for the following reasons…

Repeated Minor offences – Disruptive Conduct

For minor offences, students will be made aware that their current behaviour is unacceptable, if the unacceptable behaviour continues, they will be given a final warning and informed that if the behaviour continues, they will receive a timeout. If the behaviour continues after the final warning, the student will be given a 5 minute time out and have the strike recorded on their account.

Minor offences are behaviours that are disruptive to staff or students and hinder them from delivering the high standard of education that we strive for. These behaviours include but are not limited to…

– Playing on equipment when they have been directed not to.

– Disrupting other students during coach demonstrations / explanations.

– Overly silly behaviour.

– Unsupportive behaviour towards other students.

Major offences – Dangerous Conduct

Major offences will result in the student receiving an instant 5 minute time out and having the strike recorded on their account. Due to the nature of these offences, students will not be given warnings prior to receiving the timeout.  Behaviour that endangers the safety of other students may result in instant exclusion from the program.

Major offences are behaviours that endanger, or create the potential for danger to staff or students. These behaviours include but are not limited to…

– Pushing or shoving other students.

– Any form of fighting (including ‘play fighting’).

– General reckless behaviour.

– Any form of bullying, including tormenting, ridiculing, physical bullying.

– Inappropriate language.

The Motion Academy operates a 3 strike policy.

First Strike – Lead coach will speak to the student about their behaviour and help the student understand why the behaviour resulted in a timeout. The coach will also take the opportunity to remind the student that if they receive two more timeouts, they will not be able to return to classes.

Second Strike – If students receive a second strike, our program co-ordinator or head coach will contact the students parents / carers to discuss the behaviour. This allows our team to work with parents to help manage the students behaviour and avoid possible expulsion from the academy. Students enrolled into intermediate / advanced classes may be required to move into a basics class for the remainder of term.

Third Strike – Students that receive 3 strikes will be permanently excluded from all Motion Academy facilities and programs. Our program co-ordinator will contact the students parents to inform them. In this situation, the remaining term fees will be forfeited and there will be no refund or credit for unused classes.

If you feel that your child would benefit from Parkour training but may find it difficult to adhere to this code of conduct in a group class environment, we may be able to offer alterative training arrangements such as 1:1 personal training. Please contact us at
